Join us for the 2021 Alabama Young Democrats Convention in a new virtual format. Convention will be May 15 and features a full day of speakers, training, committee meetings, and caucus meetings. Additionally, the 2021-2023 AYD Executive Board will be elected during the business meeting, and several awards will be presented.
This is your chance to create justice for a new generation. We hope to see you there!

AL State Representative - District 54
Neil Rafferty is a member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 54. He’s is a former member of the United States Marine Corps and veteran of the Global War on Terrorism.

Mallory Hagan
Politician and Former Miss America
Mallory Hagan is an American politician and former beauty queen who won Miss America 2013 as Miss New York 2012. She ran in the 2018 congressional election in Alabama’s 3rd congressional district, which contains 14 counties and includes her hometown of Opelika, Alabama.

Cory Booker
US Senator
Cory Booker is the first African-American U.S. Senator from New Jersey. He cosponsored the Respect for Marriage Act, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and the Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act.

Nnedi Stephens
Young Democrats of America Director of Chapter Building
Nnedi Stephens is a National Committee representative for the Young Democrats of Nevada and is the Young Democrats of America’s Director of Chapter Building.

Randall Woodfin
Mayor of Birmingham
Mayor Randall Woodfin is the 34th and current mayor of Birmingham, Alabama. There’s no disputing the fact that Mayor Woodfin’s scope of leadership extends beyond the City of Birmingham, and even the State of Alabama.

Carmarion Anderson-Harvey is the state director for HRC’s office and statewide efforts in Alabama. She’s the first trans person of color to serve in a leadership role with HRC in the organization’s history.

Martha Cook
Judge - Jefferson County District Court Place 1
Judge Martha Reeves Cook is a Selma, Alabama native who practiced civil law for 20+ years before being elected to preside over Jefferson County’s District Court in Place 1. Most recently, she opened her own mediation and law practice where she mediated cases involving real estate disputes, divorce and family matters, federal consumer laws, and personal injury cases.

The 2021 convention is completely virtual! Join us on the Hopin app. Information to access the convention page will be available soon.
Credentials
Each chapter of the Alabama Young Democrats must charter every two years. Charters must be submitted by May 1.
Rules
Any AYD member may suggest an amendment to the AYD Constitution. All rules changes must be submitted by May 1.
Resolutions
Resolutions are formal positions adopted by the Alabama Young Democrats. Resolution proposals must be submitted by May 1.
Elections
Elections for the AYD Executive Board will be held during convention. Candidates must declare candidacy by May 1.
Awards
A variety of awards will be given to individuals and chapters at convention. Applications are due May 1.
